Community Concerts at Second
February 21, 2011 | Tom Smith

ConcertStillOn Sunday, Radar Redux was on hand to webcast a free candlelit concert at Second Presbyterian Church, featuring some very unusual classical music. When the harpist prefaces her performance by explaining that she will be stabbing her instrument with a screwdriver at various points in the piece, you know you’re not at the Philharmonic. Add the fact that the bill includes a performance of Variations for Four Drums and Viola with zero drums and one very talented beat-boxer, and it’s fairly obvious that something weird is going on.

The concert, part of an ongoing series called Community Concerts at Second, featured performances by Baker Award winners Peter Minkler and Shodekeh, as well as musicians Marcia Kämper, Karin Brown, and Sarah Fuller.
