EAT / #1
June 15, 2010 | Ding Ren

foodimage1_drI have been asked by the editors at RADAR REDUX to contribute a series of summer photo essays about food. My husband Mike and I love to eat and talk about food.  I will  photograph as much of what we eat as possible—of course, there will be some gaps, as I don’t have my camera with me at every meal.  When cooking at home, Mike and I mainly use local ingredients acquired at the farmers market. We stay away from refined sugars, processed foods, and food with packaging in general.  We go to the Dupont Circle (Washington, DC) farmers market every Sunday and buy an assortment of vegetables, fruit, milk, eggs, yogurt, cheese and bread.

I am currently looking forward to super colorful food after eating tons of root veggies during the winter months and these past 2 weeks have definitely been full of colorful foods.  My favorite color combinations are purple beets with bright green chard or kale leaves and cucumber, tomatoes, and dill.  My other favorite thing to do in conjunction with eating colorful foods is to picnic outside. This  will be a common occurrence through the rest of the summer.

Additional clarification: Yes, I do love eating very often and in large quantities.  Conversely, I also love exercising very often and in large quantities.
