DuBurns Arena was packed with spectators for the Charm City Roller Girls’ first home season bout on February 20th. The game may seem like a whir of spandex until you learn the rules- basically two teams line up on the track and a ‘jammer’ from each team scores points by passing members of the opposite team, who try to block her and prevent her from scoring. All of the action is real and unscripted, and with derby names like ‘Bambi’s Revenge’ and ‘Deathany’, these girls mean business. The girls will be jammin’ and slammin’ each other at the next bout on March 27th at DuBurns Arena, and spring tryouts for hopeful roller girls will be held on April 28th at Dundalk Skateland.
